Here's more proof that necessity is the mother of invention. I had this large photo (8" x 10") that I wanted to put in my heritage album -- but I didn't want to glue it in as I didn't want to hurt the picture. The challenge was that it had clearly once been mounted by the corners and when someone wanted to remove it they just cut across the corners! This made it impossible to use my normal mounting techniques (clear photo corners or corner punches on mats) as the corners weren't there!
I decided that since the focal part of the picture didn't go clear to the corners, I wanted to make large enough photo corners to hold it. I started looking around for ideas of how to do this as I wanted a nicely decorated front edge on the corners. I saw my Spellbinder's Nestabilities - Labels Four to be exact. A little experimenting with some white paper showed me what I needed to do to make it work. Here's what I did:
Cut & emboss nestability, then mark dotted lines on the back as shown. |
Fold along dotted lines |
Cut small piece of paper or cardstock and attach to the folded flaps as shown. This forms the back of the photo corner. |
Finished photo corner from the front. Note the nice embossed edge! |
I can't wait to play with more of my Nestabilities and see what other corner designs I come up with!
