Woodsy Wonderland

I recently purchased all the Woodsy Wonderland sets from Heartfelt Creations and couldn't wait to start playing with them.  I purchased them in part because I thought they'd be a great addition to my Stampscapes Scences.  I haven't tried that yet, but have used all of the stamps & dies to create some fun pieces to play with and look forward to seeing what I can do with them.  Here's my first card using them:

CARD FRONT: I made the entire scene like a card topper cut just a bit smaller than the card base.  After it was complete, I added it to the card front with foam tape.
  • Background - The background is a piece of sky from one of the 12 x 12 scenes in their paper set.  I added green chalk near the bottom - using torn paper to help me form some hills on the right hand side.  Then I inked around the entire piece with a dark blue ink.
  • Trees & Deer - stamps used for these were from two stamp sets - "Woodsy Treescapes" and "Woodsy Critters".  After coloring them with watercolor pencils (and blending with a water brush), I cut them out with the matching dies "Woodsy Landscape" and "Woodsy Critters".   I added dimension by bending them a bit and gluing parts of them directly to the card topper & raising other parts with foam tape.
  • Sentiment & Finishing - The sentiment was cut from the coordinating paper.  It was a bit too yellow for the colors I had chosen for my scene, so I changed the color a bit with some green chalk.  The ribbon vine was purchased from Paper Wishes.

INSIDE:
  • The inside border was created in much the same way as the card front - but was glued directly to the inside of the card.  The word "Thanks" was a tag cut from the coordinating paper.  The "With Gratitude" stamp was from a HOTP stamp set called "Tiny Words & Images".

OSW3 #7 - One of a Kind

This is the last of the cards from my third One Sheet Wonder.  I had thought to stretch it to another one, but decided 7 cards was enough this time.   This is another 5" x 7" card using the Honeysuckle Artful Card Kit (HOTP).

CARD FRONT:
  • Background - The background on this one was a piece of red glimmer paper that was embossed using a Spellbinder's M-Bossibilities folder called "Framed Petite Labels".  Some of the dots look white in the picture, but that is just because of the way the light was reflected off the glimmer paper. I took a strip of black paper and ran it across under the focal.
  • Focal - The focal is two die cuts from the kit - a fancy frame and a large bee - glued one on top of the other and attached to the card.
  • Border & Sentiment - The border at the bottom is one of my two remaining strips of patterned paper from the OSW with a narrow strip of black paper glued across it.  The sentiment started as a cut-out piece, but it already had a sentiment that I didn't want to use, so I cut it out and used the outer part as a frame, glueing it to a piece of glossy white card stock.  Then I stamped the sentiment (from JustRite's "You Are The Best" stamp set) in black StazOn.  This was added with foam tape.

INSIDE:
  • On the inside, I simply layered several scraps - my last piece from the OSW, a strip of black and a narrower strip of red embossed that had been trimmed from the piece on the card front.  Last, I added a cut out sentiment from the kit.

OSW3 #6 - Bee Happy

The 6th card in this 3rd One Sheet Wonder set is a standard card - easily made with the 3 pieces of patterned paper I had for this card.  I added extra pieces from the Honeysuckle Artful Card Kit.

CARD FRONT:
  • Background - The background is a red honeycomb pattern from the kit, narrowly matted in black.
  • Border - The wide border is a piece of black measuring 5 3/4" x 2 5/8" with the patterned OSW pieces glued on it.
  • Focal & Embellishments - The beehive is from the kit & added to the lower right corner with foam tape.  The sentiment is a cut out from the kit, glued across the border & background as shown.  The red flower and bee are die cuts from the kit that are added with foam tape.

INSIDE:
  • On the inside I have another piece of the red honeycomb paper matted in black forming a border along the bottom.  A cut-out sentiment from the kit finishes it off.

OSW3 #5 - Penny Slider

The 5th in this One Sheet Wonder set is a penny slider card - really a pretty easy card structure to make.  Once again, I'm using elements from the Honeysuckle Artful Card Kit.

CARD FRONT:
  • Card Topper - Cut a piece of card stock just smaller than the front of the card.  It should be pretty sturdy card stock, so you might want to glue 2 pieces together.  On the back of this piece, measure 3/4" and 1 1/4" from the top and 3/4" from each side, forming a long, thin rectangle.  Using a 1/2" circle punch or die, cut either end of the rectangle.  Then, using a craft knife, cut along the lines that connect these circles.  Now you have a long ovalish rectangular cut-out.  Set the card stock it in place on the card front, and lightly draw around the inside of this cut-out with a pencil.  Stamp a sentiment in this drawn oval.
  • Border & Sentiment - Cut a rectangular piece of red embossed glimmer paper that is 5" x 1 3/4" and glue it to the card topper.  Then attach the 3 squares of patterned papers as shown (from OSW).  The sentiment is a cut out from the kit that I backed with a piece of black paper and then glued to the border.
  • Slider - You'll need two small coins (I used pennies) and foam tape.  Cut a circular piece of foam tape - 1/4" to 3/8" in diameter and place it in the center of one of the small coins.  Then cut several pieces of narrow foam tape and place them on the back of the topper about 1/4" above & below the slot and then a third across the bottom.  Then fill in with foam tape as needed to hold the topper well. If you wish, you could use slightly thicker foam tape to attach the topper than you used for the coin so it can slide easier.  After all is ready, hold the coin with attached foam tape under the slot and add the other coin above the slot so the foam tape and slot edges of card topper are both sandwiched between them. Cover the top coin with an embellishment of some kind (here I used a large bee from the kit).  Now attach the topper to the card front with the prepared foam tape and make sure the slider slides.

INSIDE:
  • Border - Mat the longer piece of patterned paper on a slightly larger piece of embossed red glimmer paper and then on a piece of black paper that is 5 1/4" x 1 7/8".
  • Finishing - Add the small bee & create a "flight path" using small pieces of Dazzles or other black stickers.

OSW3 #4 - Lattice Window

My 4th card in this 3rd set of One Sheet Wonders is a lattice window card - again using the Honeysuckle Artful Card Kit (HOTP).  Usually this type of window is made with the lattice attached from the back of the card and just covering the window itself.  For this one, however, I chose to have more of the lattice & put it on the front of the card.  It probably would have been better to have something a little less busy showing through the window as well - but I wanted flowers that my my bees would like! :)

CARD FRONT:
  • Window - Starting with an A2 pink card base (with white on the inside), I chose a die from JustRite's Vintage Labels Two set to create the window.  I centered it on just the card front (I briefly laid the OSW piece on the bottom to help for the vertical placement), taped it in place & ran it through my Grand Calliber.  (I went ahead and embossed the piece I cut out, figuring I could use it on another card.)
  • Background - I cut a lattice piece from a dark red glimmer paper using the "French Lattice" die from Cheery Lynn.  This is an A2 size die so fit the card front beautifully.    I glued the lattice in place over the entire card front (using my Sakura quickie glue pen - love that thing!).  Then I glued the patterned paper in place near the bottom of the card.
  • Sentiment - the oval piece was a cut out from the Kit and then stamped with a stamp from "Janie's Girls" stamp set (HOTP).  The "Bee-n" was added by hand with a fine black marker.
  • Frame & Borders - The card still needed more definition at this point, so I added two strips of black paper to form a border between the patterned paper and the rest of the card front.  I also added a frame around the window - created using the die from the window & the next larger one taped together on black paper & die cut.  The bee is a die cut from the kit.

INSIDE:
  • The flower & bees on the inside are die cuts from the kit.  I didn't add much else because I want room to write my message.
