Last of Pre-School Scrapbook

Today I finished the Pre-School scrapbook on which I've been working.

Page #1 (above): Patterned papers and navy are from HOTP.  After laying out the mats, I die cut the title & added the journaling to finish this page.

Page #2:

Once again, papers are from HOTP - as are the cut outs and the brad buddy.  Not sure where I got the sun or the footprint stickers.  I tore the sand paper in the hopes it would look a bit like waves coming in.  The "The Beach" was a dimensional sticker from my stash.  The journaling was written with a marker.

Page #3:

Again, papers are from HOTP.  I simply formed them into a border, double matted the focal, and die cut the title - quick & easy.

Page #4:

Again, the background paper & border strips are from HOTP - as is the title cut out.  A cut out cat and some stickers from my stash complete the page.

Page #5:

All papers except that behind the title were from HOTP.  The piece behind the title was a hand made paper I got at Costco a long time ago.  The stickers were from my stash - including the title.

Page #6:

Papers are again from HOTP.  Title was die cut from the yellow paper.  The leaf was snatched from my Thanksgiving decorations.

5 Years Old & More

Again, I have several new pages - and most use HOTP papers - I'll say otherwise when they come from some place else.  You can see the first two in a double page spread above.  Each page was loosely based on a separate page sketch.  Now for a closer look at each.

Page 1:

Here I've added a couple of pieces of patterned paper strips to a plain lavender background (card stock from my stash).  The bow is fussy cut from a freebie printout.  The flowers are layered from a scrapbook kit in my stash.  The title is die cut from a leftover dark purple border piece.

Page 2:

Here we have similar supplies as that used on the previous page - along with a checked patterned paper.  The dark purple border piece is from the scrapbook kit, backed with a lavender strip from my stash.

Page 3:

This page is really simple - a background page, multiple matted focal photo, die cut title & embellishments (Spellbinder's Ironwork Motifs and Doily Lace Accents).

Page 4:

The background paper is a freebie print, and plain card stock from my stash.  The tags are from a Finished in a Flash Scrapbooking set (Baby Boy).  The title is stickers from my stash, and journaling used a fine line marker.  The shaped brads are from HOTP.

Page 5 & 6:

This dual page layout started with the blue patterned paper from HOTP.  The red is the handmade paper from Costco years ago.  The dark blue mat is also HOTP paper.  The journaling block started with stickers from my stash and then was written with a fine line marker.  The other sentiments and embellishments are all cut outs from a Debbi Moore freebie.  Here's a closer look at each page.

Page 5:

Page 6:

Page 7:

Since I already had the drawers of Christmas decorations and papers out, I decided to go ahead and work on the pages for Christmas 1989 - the last Christmas in this 2nd book of Amy.  This page is loosely based on a sketch posted on a message board I frequent.  The background paper is red glimmer paper.  The red and white stripe is a scrap of HOTP paper from my stash.  The mat for the photo is white glimmer paper - die cut with a Cheery Lynn Reflections die called Celtic Chain Rectangle.  The black and white paper and the journaling block come from a 6 x 6 book of Christmas Papers (don't remember who made them).  Once again, the  title sentiment and embellishments are cutouts from a Debbi Moore freebie.  I finished the page with dazzles.  White Border Dazzles frame the page, and red Jewel Dazzles replace the berries in the various embellishments.

Page #8:

This time the base page is a plain white, but red glimmer paper forms borders top and bottom. After adding the pictures, I added border dazzles and some stockings from a sticker book in my stash.  The title is stickers from my stash, and 3 red stocking brads finish the page - except for the journaling I did with a fine line marker.

Page #9:

Here's a quick page put together about her first day of kindergarten.  The background is a page designed to look like a blackboard (greenboard) with cat drawn on it.  An alphabet border and blackboard decoration from my stash, add to the two pictures.  A small arrow-label of yellow with journaling completes the page.

Page #10:

Another quick page - this time it's pre-school graduation.  The papers are old HOTP patterns.  The title and streamers are stickers from my stash.

Page #11:

I was inspired by a sketch for this page, though I strayed quite a way from it by the time I was done with it.  The background is a marbled creamy card stock from my stash.  Then I cut a frame of the print.  As you can see, I also cut a couple of layers of a flower (Spellbinders Blossom Five and Carnation Creations) from the print and one layer from the cream.  I also used the print to die cut the title.  The border strip is a narrow washi tape, and the flower is held together by a large circular brad. I printed the journaling with a fine black marker.

Legos, India & More

Continuing with the scrapbook, I have several more pages.  The first two use special papers I purchased specifically for when I made pages of this type.

Page #1 (above): I found this Lego card stock a long time ago and knew it would come in handy some day!  It made this page pretty simple.  I matted the photo on yellow card stock (after I had die cut the title from it where it wouldn't show).  Added the die cut title, and 3 little Legos, and I was done!

Page #2:

The background paper of this one is from a set of Indian print papers I purchased a long time ago.  One of these days I'll use a bunch of them to create an album of our own trip to India!  The trickiest part of this page was figuring out how to cut the bottom of the circle while leaving the top of the aqua card stock intact.  It actually turned out to be pretty easy - tape the die (Grand Decorative Circles One by Spellbinders) in place & then move the top plate of my die cut sandwich so the top of it aligned with where I wanted the cut to stop.  Next, I actually cut the top inch and a quarter off of the background paper, glued the turquoise in place so it was again an 8 x 8 page, and then added the sliced piece back on top of the turquoise for a border.  Then I simply added the matted photos, my die cut numbers, and my journaling piece and my page was done.

Pages 3 & 4:

And a closer look at each:

Page 3:

Patterned card stock came from a Christmas set - not sure who made it.  The gold is a linen look.  The ovals were cut with Spellbinder's dies.

Page 4:

This picture is a weird angle - I was trying to keep the glare from the lights off of it!  Anyway, as you can see, the focal is matted on the same gold card stock - cut with Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles die.  The banner is cut from white card stock using a JustRite Vintage Labels and Banners die, then matted with the gold.

Page 5:

This page started with a printed transparency about dance - which I backed with white paper so it could be seen clearly.  I added a strip of gray for a border mat, added the photo, and the journaling piece.  The title was a punch out from an old HOTP book.  The ballet outfit is a Brad Buddy from HOTP.  The word "dance" was a die cut from my stash.

Page 6:

The background paper is from HOTP.  The border & frames, journaling block, and flower die cut behind the pair of "teeth" are all die cuts from an old scrapbook set in my stash.  The title was die cut from the remaining scrap of border (it had been 12" long).  The blue "teeth" were from a plastic bag sent home from a dental visit that I saved for a long time.  I used microdot adhesive to glue them to white card stock before fussy cutting them and adding them to the page to finish it.

Pages and More Pages

Here I have several more scrapbook pages.  There are SO many to do if I'm to complete this project!  Most of them use HOTP paper - I'll note if the paper isn't theirs.

Page #1 (above):  This page uses 3 different papers - 1 a dark blue glimmer paper.  Stickers from my stash were used for the lettering.

Page 2:

The embellishments were fussy cut from ones I printed from the internet.  Once again, there are 3 different HOTP papers.  As you can see, I used the  darker one to die cut the title.

Page #3:

This time I actually used 4 different papers (not counting the white), since the title is die cut from some dark blue glimmer paper.  I used a Sharpie pen to ink the edges of the papers & to write the little bit of journaling.

Page #4:

Here I have 1 patterned paper & then two colors of card stock.  The embellishments are again fussy cut from internet downloads.  The title was die cut from the darker card stock using a HOTP die, and then two mats were fussy cut - one from the light card stock, and another from the darker.  The lettering was created using a Sharpie pen.

Page #5:

I picked the dark green paper as the background - and then by the time I was done with the page, you can barely see it - just looks like a mat for the title & journaling!  Most of these pictures were Polaroids so I couldn't crop them.  That meant in order to get them all on the page, I had to overlap 3 of them to create a border of sorts as you see at the top.  The focal is double matted - first with a cream colored print, and then with some red glimmer paper.  The red top and bottom of the picture border is red sticky-backed ribbon from my stash.  Another piece of the cream colored paper forms the title/journaling block.  The title is stickers from my stash.  The writing was done with a fine-line marker - which I also used to draw a bit of a border around the journaling block.

Pages #6 & 7:

As you can see, this is a dual page layout.  The flowered background paper is from HOTP, but the dotted white is from a bunch of hand-made paper purchased years ago at Costco.    The rest, I'll detail as we look closer at each individual page.

Page #6:

Here, the white part of the Polaroid picture was a bit stained, so I used a piece of the plain card stock that I used for a mat for the focal picture and journaling to cover that discoloration & give a spot to add information to the picture.  The journaling was made using a fine-line marker - except on the focal picture where I needed to use a fine line Sharpie since it was a semi-gloss paper.  The title was die cut from glittered card stock.

Page #7:

Here, in addition to the papers & pictures, I added an embellishment that I cut a long time ago on my Silhouette.

Page #8:

I'm glad I have the pictures, but Polaroid pictures REALLY make things more difficult since I can't crop them!  Here you see 3 of them - made into a border something like I did a few pages back.  Journaling on the pictures was made using a black fine-line Sharpie.  The acetate pieces are from a HOTP booklet (I used very fine mesh dot adhesive to add them), and the "Happy Birthday dear daughter" was a sticker from my stash.

Several Scrapbook Pages

Today I have a variety of scrapbook pages - most of them pretty quick and easy.

Page #1 (above):  The background paper is a HOTP pattern.  The border and mat for focal photo are both created with scraps of plain colored card stock and Aqua Jewel Border Dazzle from HOTP.  The title is stickers from my stash, while the journaling was printed using a fine-line marker.

Page #2:

This page was REALLY quick and easy.  The beautiful background is from a set of handmade paper I bought at Costco years ago.  The white mat is glimmer paper, the title is created from stickers in my stash.  The camera embellishment is a Dazzle backed with red glimmer paper.

Page #3:

The checked background is an old pattern from HOTP.  The numbers are cut from an old freebie printout - backed with red glimmer paper.  The red title was written on the bottom of that Polaroid picture with a Sharpie.  For the focal, the Polaroid focal is matted with red glimmer paper, then a small strip of the same red is cut and glued in place below the picture.  The title below that is written with white gel pen.  It's hard to see given the glare in the picture, but the embellishment is a picture of the bible that she carries.

Christmas 1986

This page was designed to meet a challenge on the message board I frequent.  It needed to include the following:

  • Double or Triple Mat  - focal is matted with a wide white and a narrow red mat.
  • Inked Edges - upper white block has edges inked in red ink
  • Cluster of Embellishments - shaped brads from HOTP
  • Embossing Folder - wide white mat is embossed using Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots folder
  • Specialty Paper - stitched handmade paper & glimmer paper
  • Dazzles and Stickers - "Merry Christmas" is Dazzles stickers, "1986" other stickers from my stash

Thanksgiving 2018 Scrapbook Page

I FINALLY made a scrapbook page for the first Thanksgiving in our new home - 4 years ago!

It took such a long time because I kept hoping that SOMEONE got pictures - but never did find anyone who did.  The other day, I came across the remnants of the Thanksgiving game we played that year and thought, "YES!  I can use that in place of pictures!"  SO, that is what I did.

The background is a napkin that is the same as what I believe we used that year.  After separating the layers of the napkin, I put double-sided adhesive over a 12 x 12 sheet of card stock, then folded back the protective sheet a little bit at a time to adhere the printed napkin layer. Then I simply trimmed around the card stock.  The title numbers & the journaling were computer printed, and the pumpkin & seeds were purchased from Oriental Trading Company.

HD Animal Kingdom - Wish Big

Today's card set comes from Hunkydory's Animal Kingdom kit - the set called "Wish Big".  Here's what the set looks like:

As you can see, there is a page of die cuts and two coordinating printed Adorable Scoreable card stock (AS).  Here are the five cards I made from this set:

Looking at each individually -

Card #1:

This card is based from a card sketch posted on a MB I frequent - in this case the sketch was turned on its side, and the card is a cut-away card.  I wanted the border in between turquoise prints, so cut the AS and re-arranged it as you can see.  Then I cut a curve that would mimic the focal - cutting the card front just a bit larger to form a narrow mat.  For the focal, it is actually 3 die cuts which includes 2 frames.  The focal is on foam tape, the next frame is glued directly to the card front, the outer frame is on even thicker foam tape.  The greeting is another die cut from the set.

Inside:

Inside I simply added a small die cut to a scrap of AS.

Card #2:

This card is mostly just a piece of the AS.  I cut it to show just a small white border around it.  I also added a gold and white washi tape to help tie in the die cut greeting (from the set).

Inside:

Scraps of AS and some more washi tape form borders on the inside of the card.

Card #3:

As you can see, this is a slimline card.  It started with a piece of one of the AS sheets.  Then I added gold and white washi tape, then the border strip from the set - cut in half and added top and bottom.  I added a gold die cut frame - with a portion cut away to fit.  This frames the focal die cut.  Finally I added a die cut sentiment piece.

Inside:

Scraps of AS, a small die cut, and washi tape complete the inside.

Card #4:

Card number 4 was really quick - a single piece of AS doubles as the background, border, and focal.  I added a bit of gold and white washi tape to tie in the sentiment die cut from an Essential Little Book (LB) of Sentiments.

Inside:

A final couple of AS strips and some more washi tape form the lower border on the inside.  I also added another die cut sentiment from the LB of sentiments.

Card #5:

This final card is another cutaway card - based on the same sketch used for card #1 above.  You can see through to the border on the inside.  For the card front itself, I embossed the front panel with a Swiss Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  Next, I glued the die cut pieces that I had chosen.in place.  I found a large oval die and used it to trace a line that would work for the cutaway - then fussy cut with scissors (I was afraid that if I sent it through the machine I'd lose my embossing).

 Inside:

On the inside, I cut a border from one of the AS sheets - then fussy cut along the chevron so I could separate it a bit and show a bit more white.

Tag:

I made this tag from the leftover scraps of the set.
