HD Floral Favourites - Patchwork Posy

Today I have 6 cards from this Hunkydory set (Patchwork Posy from HD Floral Favourites).  The set had these materials - 1 sheet of AS (adorable scoreable card stock) and 1 1/2 sheets of die cuts (which I supplemented from my stash):

Here are the 6 cards and 3 tags that I made using these materials:

And here's a closeup look at each of them:

Card #1:

This first card, as you can see, is a slimline card.  The main portion of the card is cut from the AS, but I pieced borders top and bottom from scraps from the die cut sheet.  I added a couple sheer ribbons and a little greeting to finish the card front.

Inside:

Inside is a border strip that I pieced together, along with some of the smaller die cuts.

Card #2:

The background paper on this card is from my stash.  I wrapped a piece of lace around it near the bottom for a border.  I added a border strip from the set to a narrow strip of white card stock & then glued that in place on top of the lace.  I did some fussy cutting on the focal - and colored the "red" bits with a pink marker to help them go a little better.  I matted the focal on white card stock & fussy cut around it to form a narrow white border.

Inside:

As you can see, I just added a couple of strips of the patterned paper to form borders on the inside.

Card #3:

Next up is a doily card.  A piece of the AS was cut a bit smaller than the card front, leaving room to add a border at the bottom.  I fussy cut the focal piece so it didn't have red on it and so I could slip the greeting behind some of the flowers.  This was then glued to the small doily and put in place in the center of the card.  I added a few Jewel Dazzles in the bottom left corner and in the center of the bow on the focal (I colored the silver outline of them with a gold marker so they went a bit better).  I also added 3 small jeweled dragonflies to the focal.

Inside:

I did  a border strip on the inside - similar to what was on the outside,  and added a couple of die cuts.

Card #4:

Here's another card with doilies on it.  This time I used a colored card stock for the card base & embossed it with a Swiss Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  I added a tag with a greeting from my stash and completed the card front with a couple of red rhinestones.

Inside:

A couple more strips of the pink card stock forms border strips on the inside.  To this I added a sticker from my stash.

Card #5:

Here I have another doily card.  I started with the lavender gingham paper and then added a large doily that I trimmed close to the edges of the card.  I added another die cut bunch of flowers & a greeting - both from the set.

Inside:

Inside are some more of the smaller die cuts from the set - set on a piece of the lavender gingham.

Card #6:

One of the things I did with this set was to remove the butterflies from the things they were attached to.  I did not care for the orange with the pinks.  So, I put these 3 butterflies together with a die cut border strip from the set to make a card with orange shades on it.  To flesh out the card front, I added a floral sticker from my stash and a ribbon bow.

Inside:

I would have liked to have another butterfly for the inside of the card, but there were only the three that I used on the card front.  So I just made a quick border with the ribbon & a strip of gold card stock.

HD Floral Shimmer - Floral Bouquet

Today's cards come from a partial set from the Hunkydory kit called Floral Shimmer - the set is called Floral Bouquet.  I had a partial set of die cuts, a sheet of AS (adorable scoreable card stock), and some little book pages:

Here are the cards I made - I still had a little book page left, but had used everything else:

Card #1 (above): The background was created from a slice of the AS, bordered by silver card stock on the sides a one of the border die cuts used top and bottom.  The focal was cut from a little book page using a Labels One die from Spellbinders.  The silver is cut with their Decorative Labels One, with a sentiment from a Hunkydory Little Book of Sentiments.

Inside:

Inside I used the pieces cut off of the little book page (when making the focal).  I used the rest of the border at the bottom along with one of the die cuts (to hide the fact that the border wasn't long enough!)

Card #2:

Here I used scraps of pink to edge the side of the little book page - which is fussy cut to fit the bottom border of the AS.  The top border of the AS was fussy cut and glued here so it fit the card size. I also added a part of the 2nd die cut border.  A greeting was added using silver stickers, and a small butterfly die cut adds interest to the tulip.

Inside:

A border was created on the inside using scraps & the rest of the die cut border.  The "joy" die cut is also from the set, the other greeting is silver stickers from my stash.

Card #3:

This card is a simple little book page with corners rounded and matted on aqua blue paper - with corners of the card rounded as well.  Silver stickers form a border and the greeting.

Inside:

Remaining scraps of AS & border - along with some scraps of the aqua blue form a border for the inside.

Card #4:

Here's a note card - made just from cutting down a little book page.

Inside:

I found I had some extra scraps so they went inside.

Card #5:

Another note card uses up the rest of the die cuts and a cut down little book page.  The sentiment is stamped with StazOn ink using JustRite stamps from the set Musical Notes Labels Twenty.

Bookmark:

This bookmark used up the rest of the AS - I rounded the corners and added ribbon through a punched hole.  I may add a message when I decide who will receive it.

Same Materials Swap - from Lee

Today's card is from a "same materials" kit sent to me by Lee.  Often it takes a bit of stewing to figure out what I want to do with something, but as soon as I saw the buttons, I knew I wanted to use a couple of stamps sets I had to make this card (The girl is from HOTP's Paper Dolls, and the others are from Sew Pretty - a set that came as a freebie in a card making magazine.)  All were stamped in black ink and then heat embossed with black powder.  The greeting is cut with a die from Twisted Metal Tags & Accents from Spellbinders.  

I forgot to take a picture of what was in the kit, but it was three approximately 5" x 6.5" sheets - one of patterned paper, one of green, one of dark pink.  There was also an extra strip each of the patterned paper and the green.  In  addition to that, and the card base, there was a short length of green ribbon and 5 green buttons of varying shades and sizes.  Here's a picture of what I had left at the end 😁:

Fortunately, the back of the green was white so I could stamp my girl on that and color her lighter skin and hair (with watercolor pencils & a water brush).  I stamped her again out of the pink to form the dress, then took a tiny strip of ribbon to put around her waist.  That left me with just enough ribbon to add to the border that I created by cutting a piece of the green - turning it so the white showed, and then adding a piece of the patterned paper that I cut from behind where the border was to go.

As you can see, I layered the green stamped elements on the pink card stock and cut around them with a narrow margin.  The doll/girl and the greeting are raised on foam tape so that hopefully the buttons will make it through the mail okay.

Inside:

For the inside I just squared up what was left of the various papers and used them for a border.

HD Floral Shimmer - Birthday Wishes

Today I have 7 cards from the Hunkydory Kit called Floral Shimmer.  I LOVE that kit!  It has a special shimmer to it that is just beautiful.  Unfortunately, I started working on this kit before I understood that the kits had "sets" and that it was best to work one set at a time so you didn't end up with stuff that didn't go together very well.  Since I didn't realize that when I started (back in March & April of 2017), I ended up cutting into sets and putting stuff together in unexpected ways that left me with a bit of a mess.  

So, today's "set" is the one called Birthday Wishes - but as I tried to gather elements together in a way that worked, I found I had 4 sheets of AS that I put with the set (when I'm sure only two of them would actually have gone with it originally), and I had a couple of extra die cuts from another set that would only go with the AS from this set.  I'm guessing that the original die cut sheet that went with two of the AS sheets was mostly used elsewhere!

Anyway, here are the materials I started with:

Let's take a close look at each.

Card #1 (at top of this post):  I had 3 sets of wavy side pieces in the die cut sheet, and often have a hard time figuring out what to do with them!  This time I decided to make a tall card by cutting a piece of AS, adding a silver card stock border on the sides, and adding the side pieces top and bottom.  Since I already had in mind that I wanted to use that deep purple ribbon as a border that the greeting sat on, I didn't want to cut the AS any shorter - so ended up with a card nearly 10" tall and 4" wide.  I don't think I'll do that again, but it was a fun experiment.  Anyway, I wrapped the ribbon around before gluing the AS construction to the card front.

Inside:

It took me a bit to figure out what to do with the inside.  Then I realized that there was a similarity between the border on the AS & the die cut pieces I used on the front.  So, I cut another piece of AS, cut a small piece of the border in half & put it top & bottom, then added border stickers around so it looked like the silver card stock I had on the front of the card.

Card #2:

Here I have the largest of the two wavy side shapes.  I decided to put them backwards from what would normally be expected and then add another die cut on top for the focal.  I added a butterfly die cut and a sentiment from a HD Little Book of Sentiments.

Inside:

Inside I simply added more of the AS, another sentiment from the little book, and silver border stickers.

Card #3:

Often, my cards just evolve.  Here I had a die cut that went with the AS, but it was a bit small & I didn't have much else that would go with it.  Looking through my stash, I found this lovely purple sheer ribbon and decided to make a bow & border using it.  As you can see, I added some silver Jewel Dazzles to brighten it up.

Inside:

Inside is more of the same for a coordinating border.

Card #4:

The AS that went with this die cut focal was pretty busy, so I toned it down by adding a die cut silver card stock from my stash as a mat (Spellbinder's Decorative Labels Eight).  As you can see, I also matted the background with silver and added a border (from the set).  The added butterfly might not even be from this kit as it looked like I had some leftovers from an earlier kit, but I thought it went well.

Inside:

As you can see, I used similar materials on the inside - though this time the silver piece was die cut with a Fun Stampers Journey Pierced Rectangles die.

Card #5:

I liked the background of this AS, but it had giant floral corners that I didn't care for and that made cutting a background piece difficult.  I managed by cutting the background on the diagonal.  Then I cut the borders (that were on the floral corners) and used some scraps to add in a bit of pink on the purple part and purple on the pink part.  As you can see, I used border stickers that the sentiment went on, and placed the focal on the added scraps.  It's a bit unusual, but . . . 

Inside:

For the inside I carefully cut the remaining scraps into these matching triangles and added the last pair of wavy border pieces as accents.

Card #6:

I still had some of that busy floral background left and hadn't used a lot of the border, so made another card - this time with a scrap of silver ribbon-lace and a couple more die cuts from the set.

Inside:

Inside I used another greeting die cut from the set, a scrap of the floral AS and some scraps of silver card stock to create a border.

Card #7:

These die cuts were leftovers from some other set, but I thought they worked well with this AS.  The ribbon wraps over the frame and under the die cut focal - and I added thin line Dazzles to it as well.  A small sentiment die cut and some Jewel Dazzles complete the outside.

Inside:

You really can't tell from the pictures, but the piece on the inside is really the same color and pattern (in a smaller scale) as the AS on the card front.  It DOES have gorgeous silver foiling which blends well with the silver on the card front.
