Purple Birthday

Today's cards finish off the 3 purple papers I've been working with (from an older HOTP set called Paper Pizazz Joy Vintage Papers).  I found I mostly had the large flower pattern left, so you'll see the focus is that.

Card #1 (above):  From the same paper as the background, I fussy cut one of the flowers and matted it on white, adding it with foam tape to add interest to the card.  The border is made from two other papers in the set & white card stock for matting.  The sentiment is also white card stock - stamped with Dusty Concord Distress Ink using a Studio G stamp from the small birthday wishes set.

Inside:

Inside is a bit more of the border paper - and a stamp from Birthday Cheer stamp set (HOTP).

Card #2:

This time I created a focal of sorts by die cutting an oval of flowers from the background paper.  I used a silver Sharpie to help the flowers and sentiment stand out more & to "mat" the focal & border.  The sentiment was die cut from a colored metal sheet - with a die from Spellbinders' Joyous Celebrations Sentiments.

Card #3:

By this time I had only scraps of the papers left, but it felt like there were too many to throw away, so I made this last card - using 1 1/4" squares of paper matted on dark purple.  Once again the greeting was stamped with that Studio G Birthday Wishes stamp.  I added a candle Brad Buddy (HOTP) that I colored with enamel paint (it had been red all over).  The lavender card base is from my stash.

Here I simply used more scraps to finish off the inside.

Purple Sympathy

This card was inspired by a challenge to use 3 different papers from the same paper pack on one card.  These come from old HOTP set called Paper Pizazz Joy Vintage Papers.  The white sentiment is sticky-backed vinyl that was cut with my Silhouette.

The greetings inside were stamped with stamps from a stamp set I was given for my birthday - no name on it.

Purple Florals

One of the challenges on the Paper Wishers Message Board this month was to start using up some of my old paper stash by using at least 3 patterns from a single paper set on one card.  Only the first and last of this post actually meet that challenge.  I DO find using larger patterns extremely challenging - just not my preferred style I guess.

Card #1 (above): This first time, I solved my pattern dilemma by using a piece of the largest pattern for my focal, and the smallest pattern to mat the background paper.  As you can see, I added some purple - a frame for my focal, and a base for my greeting. I used a white vinyl sticker, that I created a long time ago with my Silhouette, for the greeting, and faux stitching lines with a white gel pen to tie it in better.

Inside:

Inside I just used one of the patterns, some tags that have been sitting in my stash forever, some scraps of the dark purple, and some Jewel Dazzles.  The stamped messages come from 3 different sets: HOTP Birthday Greetings, and JustRite's Circle of Love and Grateful Heart Vintage Labels Two.

Card #2:

Here I just used the smallest patterned paper with more purple scraps to create a card using die cuts from Hunkydory's Cute and Cuddly Whopper Topper pad.

Card #3:

Here I managed to use the smaller of the two florals, but only by itself with purple scraps from my stash.  The purple strips were leftover from an embossed piece made using Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Nobility.  The base for the focal greeting was die cut with a Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Seven die.  The greeting was stamped on a piece from a long ago purchased set of scrapbooking pieces - using a stamp from JustRite's Friends Antique Labels One.

Inside:

More of the same - stamp is from a set I got in a card making magazine.  The set was called Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.

Card #4:

Here's the other card made using all three of the patterned papers.  I can't take credit for the design, I had to go to my pintrest board where I have been collecting samples that use multiple patterns.  Here's a link t the one I used for inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/333477547381575316/ by quilterlin on flickr (though no longer there apparently).

As you can see, I used scraps of purple paper and stickers to complete the card front.

Inside is more of the same.

Of Angels & Kings

Mom got a kit of Debbi Moore's Christmas designs & shared with me.  We worked together cutting out the pieces and I got ONE card made. (Just for the record, she printed everything at about 83% of normal size because many of the originals were designed for European sizes - too large to fit on US letter-sized card stock and/or too large for even a 5.5" x 8.5" card - and we generally prefer to make cards no larger than 5" x 7").

It's hard to tell in the picture, but the star, wise men, and sentiment are all on foam tape for added dimension.  There are multiple sets within the kit, and the greeting did not come in this particular set (though was a part of the kit), but I liked it better with my card than those that did.

I have had the dark blue card base for ages (it's an A2 size) and thought it would be PERFECT for this card.  Then I found this piece of tan card stock in my scraps - great for a mat behind the printed card front.

I was getting ready to post to the message board I frequent when I realized it really didn't fit any of the challenges.  Then I saw the challenge that called for using something that came in a bottle or jar with threaded lid.  That would really be a great addition to my card anyway!  SO, I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the star and the angel's wing.  Here's a picture from before I added the Stickles:

I'm not sure that you can tell the difference that well in the pictures, but in real life it DOES add a nice sparkle.

Inside:

On the inside, I have another angel piece and a sentiment that came with the set, along scraps from the mat that form border strips over the lighter almond colored paper that was added so a personal message could be written.

Update 11/10/21 - today I decided to add a stamped verse on the inside (didn't take a picture, though).  Stamp was from Divinity Designs - a set called Christmas Card Scriptures.

Dazzling in Purple

Today's cards were sparked by several challenges on the Paper Wishers Message Board.  First was to use up sticker sheets.  Here's the main one I was working from for this set of cards:

Other challenges included - to use more than one fold in the card, to make thank you cards, and to use a sketch.  Between these 4 cards, the challenges were met - most multiple times.  I used two full sheets of 12 x 12 patterned paper when making these. I got the idea for several of the card bases from a CD called Theresa's Folded Cards Forever from HOTP.

Card #1(above): This is called a center easel card.  It's made like a normal easel, except that you slice the card front an inch from each side before folding the center section in half for the easel.  The 1" pieces are glued to the inside of the card.  I used a Nellie Snellen Die (Multi die Flower) for the focal mat.  Here's what it looks like when set as an easel:

And here it is opened all the way up:

Several stamps were used with this card - in addition to stickers & the large brads you see along the edge of the card.  "You are the Best" is from JustRite's Grand Sentiments, "thanks so much" from Stampendous' Assorted Greetings, and the "for your help, I appreciate it" were from Divinity Designs Thanks for Everything stamps/dies duo.  In addition to the other stickers, I used Jewel Dazzles for decoration. The sentiments were stamped on mats created from Spellbinders dies (Renaissance Jeweled Frame, and Lattice Rectangles).

Card #2:

Here we have more of the same materials.  The medallion was made from "innies" placed on a die cut circle (Nellie Snellen's Multi-Frame Flower).  The greeting is on a plain square mat that is backed by a patterned mat that was cut using a die from Spellbinders Captivating Squares die.  Here's what the card looks like partially opened:

And here it is fully opened:

Stamps were from Paper Artists (HOTP) Janie's Girl Frames.

Card #3:

This card was made as a "Split Tri-Fold".  I really like this fold - easy and holds itself closed!  Once again I mostly used "innies" stickers on this card.   The ones here in front were matted on a lavender piece cut with Spellbinders Luscious Labels One. Here it is partially opened:

The packages are from a sheet of "Thank You" stickers. Here's the card fully opened:

The die cut mat on the inside was cut with a Spellbinders Scalloped Labels One die.

Card #4:

This final card was made for a sketch challenge.  I modified it quite a bit, but finally came up with something that looked reasonably good.  The "doily" is a piece of silver linen paper cut with a Spellbinders Stately Circles die.  The greeting is on a piece cut with a Spellbinders Labels 4 die.

Inside:

Scraps and a couple of Jewel Dazzles finish off the inside - with room for a message.
