Please let me hear from you!

This blog is for sharing a love of paper crafting. I love paper crafting -
and Stampin' Up! products in particular -
so much so, that I became an independent Stampin' Up!®™ demonstrator earlier this year!
Full disclosure: I get a small commission on purchases made using links from this website - but this in no way affects your price. It just serves to help support this blog. Thank you in advance for that support!

Enjoy browsing my blog, and I'd love to hear from you.
It is what helps make the time I put into this blog feel worthwhile, and always brightens my day.

Makes for Some WCMD Challenges (& Upcoming Club Samples)

Today I have several makes for WCMD challenges on this message board I frequent.  Some are made from SU supplies.  Some are made from old stash I need to use up.  I'll list supplies used for each make - and links for SU tools/supplies that are still available.  First, here are a couple of things that were used on almost every make:

Challenge #1:

First up, we were to submit a card to see if folks could guess who made it. This is the card I made for that.  I used paper from my stash - a 6 x 6 set from HOTP called Autumn Garden.  The structure itself was shown by Sassy's LLC and called a Diamond Hammock Fun Fold because of the way it opens up after I remove the belly band (velcro fastener in back).

Here you see it opened up - it REALLY pops!  (You can find her video & *.pdf here, but you will need to sign up for her Patreon to see it - you can do that for free.)  She adapted it from one shown in a video by Inky Antics - which is basically the same except is a larger sized card.

Challenge #2:

This was a 3 part color challenge.  The colors challenge listed 4 colors: purple, orange, green, and black.  I decided to use this challenge to create some of my samples for our upcoming Stampin' Up! club night.

For this first card, we were to use at least 3 of the 4 colors, and the focal had to have leaves (yes, needles are a type of leaf!).  I used a discontinued decorative mask set called Frosted Forest and the matching dies to create this card.  Ink colors used were: Shaded Spruce, Pretty Peacock, Highland Heather, and black.  The little dog and the sentiment were stamps from a discontinued Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit called Warm Wishes.  The paper was from their Lovely Garden DSP (designer series paper).  Basic Black cardstock makes a great base for this card.

This was the 2nd card of the challenge.  For it, we had to use at least 3 of the colors and make a fun fold card.  As you can see, I made a center step card.  I again used papers from the Lovely Garden DSP. The focal was created using the discontinued bundle called Enduring Beauty.  It has decorative masks, stamps, and cutting dies.  I also used one of the small stamps to add little flowers to the side panels.  I used Highland Heather ink for those and for one of the layers of the petals.  I used Fresh Freesia ink for the background of the petals.  Light and dark applications of Garden Green created the leaves.  I DID make a mistake because I wasn't sure how this set worked.  I used black ink for the last mask that did the flower centers.  I wish I had used a darker purple ink instead (Gorgeous Grape) because the stamp that I stamped over top would have added black centers!  Live & learn.  I did add the flowers with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  The sentiment again came from the discontinued kit called Sentimental Rose.

Even though this particular bundle has been discontinued, you could use a similar one called Layers of Beauty - which is what I used for the third card in this set.

This time I made an easel card.  Inks I used, in addition to black, were: Peach Pie, Pumpkin PieHighland Heather, Daffodil Delight, and Garden Green.  (Yes, the roses are peach/orange - not yellow as the look in the picture!)  I punched out some sparkly dots from the discontinued 2024-2026 In Colors Glimmer Specialty Paper and added them.  The tag sentiment was stamped with a stamp from the discontinued kit called Sentimental Rose, and die cut using a die from the same Layers of Beauty set I used for the larger focal. I added a bow using Garden Green twine (discontinued).  This is another card that looks good on a Basic Black card base, and another card that uses Lovely Garden DSP.  Oh, yes, for the inside, I created a sentiment using a stamp from The Right Words stamp set.  After matting it on the green, I added it with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to hold the easel for display.

I was able to use materials/tools such that all three of these makes work for samples for my upcoming club meeting.  I just needed one more, so made the following

Challenge #3:

This was a sketch challenge.  I used paper from the discontinued Serene Love DSP, along with Night of Navy cardstock.  My flowers were made two different ways. 1) I used the same Layers of Beauty set of masks to create a single rose and fussy cut it.  To this, I added some die cut leaves.  2) I colored pieces of the paper - roses & leaves - with Stampin' Blends (Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy, and discontinued Boho Blue), fussy cut them and added them.  Using the discontinued Wanted to Say dies, I cut a sentiment from both the navy and white cardstocks.  After gluing the background in place, I glued my roses and leaves onto a square of white cardstock - then added the whole piece with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I also used these to add the sentiment, after gluing the layers together.

There!  My club card samples are done!

Challenge #7:

At this point, I jumped ahead to challenge #7 because it was due and the rest of the challenges had a longer time to complete.  This was another sketch, and I found it really hard - partly because I had a hard time figuring out dimensions for the pieces.  I took all the pieces from the same paper pack - a Graphic 45 set called Wild and Free that my niece had given me - but I just wasn't happy with the way they looked after slicing the papers and putting them together as per the sketch.

So, I decided to mat them  all with a light coral cardstock that I had in my stash.  Now they were way too wide - probably were to start with.  They might even be too long, but they were already matted!  They just really didn't look right as I tried to arrange them on my card.

SOoooo, I decided to make a 5 x 7 card instead of the original A2 idea.  This gave me the space to spread my pieces out, but now my strips were too short!  I painstakingly cut them where they would be hidden by a piece that was crossing them and spread them apart.  Whew - got it done!

But now, what to do for a focal.  I finally cut this piece of paper down as small as I dared, narrowly matted it with Calypso Coral cardstock, and added it with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.  I wanted something to break up the remaining white space a bit, so added this narrow washi tape as a border around the edge.

With all cards done for the challenges due today, that's a good stopping place.  Since I don't believe that anyone coming to club watches my blog, I'll go ahead and post these.
