For club this time, we created four cards from a single 6 x 6 piece of double-sided patterned paper from a discontinued Stampin' Up! paper pack called Season of Green and Gold. Here's a picture of the 4 of them:
In this post, I'll show you the 6x6 one sheet wonder I used for them, the sketches I created, and a close up with instructions for each of the cards made.
This cutting guide and two of the sketches were inspired by one I saw that Lyssa Zwolanek made (you can see her blog here). First, a picture of the way we cut the paper - and then the cutting guide itself.
The numbers relate to the cutting guide (see below). The numbers are placed at the beginning of the line if it's a horizontal or vertical cut. For diagonal cuts, the numbers are on the lines themselves. The letters indicate the card each piece will be used for (see sketches below).
Cutting Guide:
1) Cut into two pieces at 4 inches (4 x 6 and 2 x 6).
2) Cut one inch off the 4 x 6 piece (gives two pieces 1 x 4 and 4 x 5).
3) Cut 2 x 6 piece into three 2 x 2 squares.
4) Cut two of the three squares on the diagonal from corner to corner. NOTE: If you are using patterns that are directional, make sure the top of the paper is oriented to the top of the cutting guide picture, and that one square is cut from the upper left corner to the lower right and the other from the lower left corner to the upper right.
5) Cut the 4 x 5 piece on the diagonal from corner to corner - the tape back in place with removable tape and cut on the other diagonal. Remove tape.
Card Sketches are below. Here's the key: green = card front, blue = cut patterned papers, white = mat for focal/sentiment.
And now for the cards themselves. Note that cards A & D used a white card blank, while I used Very Vanilla cardstock to create the card blank for cards B & C. (5.5 x 8.5 piece scored in half at 4 1/4)
Card A:
My card panel was a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Old Olive cardstock. I die die cut a small circular mat for the sentiment from the center of the cardstock before inking the patterned paper pieces with Mossy Meadow ink and gluing them on the sides of the card panel, leaving a bit of a margin of the Old Olive showing. I set this aside while I prepared the focal image.
I stamped the image (from the discontinued Beautiful Season stamp set) using Tuxedo Black Momento ink. I colored the image in using the following Stampin' Blends pens: Old Olive, Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake, and Pecan Pie. I LOVE the way it turned out. To add a bit of glimmer, I painted areas of the leaves and berries (and the bird's eye) with Wink of Stella. I cut the bird out using the number 3 die from the Textured Notes die set, then glued it to the card panel.
I created the sentiment piece by punching a 1 1/8" circle from white cardstock and then stamping the sentiment (discontinued Greetings of the Season stamp set) using Mossy Meadow ink on it. Then I glued it to the mat I had die cut earlier.
I wrapped the twine around the lower part of the panel (white and gold baker's twine) and taped it to the back of the panel with transparent tape before gluing the entire panel to the card front. Finally, I added the sentiment where the twine wrapping crossed using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals above and below the twine.
Card B:
This card uses the reverse side of the pieces, as well as a couple of fussy cut pieces from another paper in the set. Using a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of green vellum from my stash, I embossed it with the discontinued Fern 3D embossing folder. To this, I glued my pattern paper pieces - top and bottom - aligning them along the edge of the vellum. I then glued this to the card front, putting glue only where it would be hidden by the patterned paper.
From a small piece of glitter paper, I first cut four 1/4-inch strips, then used a cutting die to cut an oval mat for my focal. I glued the strips in a crisscross pattern along the edges of the patterned paper and meeting in the center - then trimmed flush to the card.
I used the same oval die to cut an oval from Very Vanilla cardstock. I laid out my fussy cut pieces along with a gold trim bow to determine placement for my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment (same stamp as for the previous card) using VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.
I cut the gold oval mat in half and, sliding 1/2 up and 1/2 down, I glued my gold embossed oval to the mat pieces - then to the card front. After gluing my fussy cut pieces and bow in place, I used a plain paper punch to punch pieces of the gold glittered paper and added them for a bit of accent.
Card C:
I used a bright gold paper panel for this one. I first embossed it using a discontinued embossing folder called Metal Plate 3D, then glued it to the card front. Next I glued my patterned paper pieces to the corners, leaving a bit of a margin of gold.
Using the same die I used to cut out the bird focal, I cut a panel from Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped my greeting with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder - then added the fussy cut elements for a focal. I added narrow washi tape around the border of the focal panel, then matted the whole on Mossy Meadow cardstock. Finally, I added 3 Low Profile Sparkle Dots - a larger one in the center of the bow, and two smaller ones for bell "dangles".
Card D:
I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Old Olive cardstock for the front panel and set it aside. Next I cut mats for my patterned paper pieces out of Mossy Meadow cardstock and glued the patterned paper to the mats. Using another die from the Textured Notes set, I cut a piece of white for my focal sentiment - then stamped it with Mossy Meadow ink (stamp from Beautiful Season stamp set). I cut a mat for the sentiment and glued the sentiment piece to it. Using the pine sprig cutting die from the Christmas Greenery die set, I cut a couple of small pine sprigs (just used the top part of the die) from scraps of Mossy Meadow cardstock. After gluing the embossed panel to the card front, and the matted pieces to the panel, I added my pine sprigs, some red Traditional Sparkling Sequins, and a red ribbon bow.
