HD Vintage Blossom - Antique Rouge

Today I'm working with an old Hunkydory kit called Vintage Blossom - the set called Antique Rouge.  I actually had two complete kits - but this was before I knew that it worked best to use the entire set at one time rather than just taking pieces from it.  So, you will see from the picture below that it is only a partial set - but I actually had 2 identical partial sets to work with.

As you can see, there was only a partial set of die cuts, one full AS (Adorable Scoreable card stock) sheet, and one partial AS sheet - but I had two of all of it.  In addition, I found a few die cuts from another book called Bigger Book of Toppers - Florals that seemed to go well with them. 

I made a total of 5 cards from them - had to piece several of the backgrounds, but made it work.  Here's a close up look at each of them.

Card #1:

This card was the first that I made from this partial set - and the last!  I inked the edges of the AS for the background/focal & added the border die cut piece with the sentiment die cut.  Then, when all 5 cards had been made, I still had some little pieces of AS & border left, so made a little tag - pulling the sentiment die from the border & putting it on the tag before adding the whole tag to the card front.

Inside:

Inside I have a couple of borders made from scraps of AS, scrap of the glimmer paper, and scraps of the die cut sheet.  Then I added a stamped sentiment (Crafter's Companion Compendium - Birthday-Female sheet).

Card #2:

Here I took the inner gold frame & split it to extend the fancy frame top and bottom.  The AS was matted with a dark red glimmer paper.  Two die cut tags from the set and a ribbon bow from my stash complete the card front.

Inside:

Inside I made the borders the same way as the last card.  The stamp was again from Crafter's Companion Compendium - this time from the With Love page.

Card #3:

This card again started with a large piece of the printed AS - with inked edges.  I added a die cut border strip to the top and a die cut sentiment (all from the set) to complete the card front.

Inside:

The inside of this one has an inked AS scrap border - wrapped with ribbon from my stash to form the border.  The sentiment is the same as that used on the first card.

Card #4:

This card was inspired by a sketch challenge on a message board I frequent - though it turned out VERY different from the sketch in the end.  The background were pieced from 3 scraps of AS - then the edges were inked.  Then I added another scrap from the other AS sheet - bordered with the dark red glimmer paper to create a border - which I finished off with a piece of die cut border before adding the four little pieces from the Bigger Book of Toppers - Florals.  Another die cut sentiment completes the card front.

Inside:

Once again I had to piece scraps to create the two borders - then I stamped a greeting (Crafter's Companion Compendium - Thinking of You page)

Card #5:

I think this last card is my favorite.  I again extended the frame with the gold inner frame as I did on card #2, but this time I made a horizontal card & turned the frame 90 degrees from the focal.  Once again I added a couple of die cut tags with a ribbon bow from my stash.

Inside:

Scraps of AS, red glimmer paper, and gold poster board from my stash come together to make a border on the inside of this card.  A little ribbon bow from my stash completes the border.  The sentiment is again from Crafter's Companion Compendium - this time again from the With Love page.

Crafter's Companion Cards

Today I have a bunch of cards made from a Crafter's Companion card kit.  There were 6 sets in the kit and each one was designed to create one tent/pop-up/easel card like the one you see above.  I had figured I would quickly make them up as designed, to clear the kit from a very overfull binder.  However, that plan was met with 2 challenges.  First, as you can see, the 2nd set of pop-up flowers are pretty much hidden by the ones in the front, and second, the easel tends to easily slip out from behind the flowers in front and collapsing - a problem that would be made even more challenging if I had added the weight of extra die cuts to decorate it more.

So, I decided it would be best to use the materials to make something else.  The following cards are the results - 15 cards instead of 6!

Card #1 (see above): card as designed.

Card #2:

This card was made with the remaining die cuts from card #1's set.  The cat was fussy cut from a Tattered Lace freebie print out.  The sentiment was stamped & die cut from Mom's set - and inked with a scrap of ribbon threaded through it.

Card #3:

Here I used the die cut frame & a couple of floral pieces - along with a focal from a small cat calendar.

Inside:

A piece of the largest die cut and some floral die cut pieces completed the inside of the card.

Card #4:

The background is formed from the inside of the sentiment panel.  To this, I added several of the other die cuts.

Inside:

Once again, a piece of the largest die cut and some floral die cut pieces complete the inside of the card.

Card #5:

This is the last card from this set.  In addition to the various die cut pieces, I added a fussy cut cat - cut from the same Tattered Lace freebie print out.

Inside:

A small piece of brown card stock from my stash - along with some die cuts from the set completed the inside of the card.

Card #6:

This time the cat calendar page forms the focal on a center step card.  The borders were created from some AS (Adorable Scoreable card stock from Hunkydory) in my stash.  Then I added some die cuts from the next Crafter's Companion set.

Card #7:

The frame die cut and several other die cuts form the base of this next card.  The dog was fussy cut from a small dog calendar.

Inside:

The inside panel from the set forms the inside of the card - and a few more die cuts finish the inside.

Card #8:

The rest of the die cuts complete the outside and inside of this card.  In addition, I added some fussy cut pieces - the two cats from the Tattered Lace freebie download.  The sentiment is fussy cut from a Debbi Moore freebie.

Inside:

The die cuts that weren't used on the card front complete the inside of the card.

Card #9:

This is the first of two cards I made from the next set.  As you can see, this one uses the frame, and other die cuts with a focal from a small dog calendar.

Inside:

And inside is the original inside sentiment panel and a few die cuts.

Card #10:

Here I used some leftover strips from the set and several of the die cut pieces.  The focal was again from a small dog calendar.  The sentiment was from a Debbi Moore freebie which I matted on a light purple and inked the edges.

Inside:

Again I put a couple of border pieces from the set - combined with the rest of the die cuts from the set.

Card #11:

From the next set, I was able to once again make 3 cards.  Here, as you can see, I have the frame and a couple of die cuts from the set along with a focal from a small cat calendar.

Inside:

Inside I made a border with some more of the die cuts.

Card #12:

Here the focal was another picture from the small dog calendar.  I used several die cut pieces to form borders top and bottom, and added the die cut sentiment.

Inside:

Inside I  I used several more pieces from the set to make borders top and bottom, decorating the lower one with some of the die cuts.

Card #13:

Here I fussy cut a small dog from the dog calendar - then added several die cut pieces from the set - then added a couple of sentiments from the Hunkydory Little Book of Essential Sentiments - both hung with some sticker "chains".

Inside:

The sentiment panel from the set, and the final small die cut completes the inside.

Card #14:

I only made 2 cards from the final set.  Here's the first.  As you can see, it once again makes use of the frame piece.  The cat focal was again from the small cat calendar.  The sentiment was again from the Hunkydory book of sentiments.

Inside:

Several die cuts complete the inside of the card.

Card #15:

The final card started with a background pieced from pieces of the set.  To that I added a fussy cut cat from the Tattered Lace freebie download.  Then, I added a bunch of die cut pieces from the set - including the sentiment.

Inside:

Once again, the sentiment panel forms the main part of the inside of the card.  Then, I used the final die cuts to complete the interior.

HD Peony Promise - Oh So Sweet

Today I have 6 cards made using the last set of the Hunkydory Peony Promise kit - a set called Oh So Sweet.  Here's what the set looked like:

As you can see, the basic set was 2 sheets of printed card stock (called Adorable Scoreable - AS), and a sheet of foiled die cuts.  In addition to this, I used a few cut outs from the coordinating little book pages (LB).  Here's a picture of all 6 cards:

Below is a closeup look at each:

Card #1:

This first card, a slimline, has a background cut from the border edge of one of the AS pieces.  The frame and focal were from the die cut sheet - with the focal added with foam tape.  The sentiment stamped and heat embossed in silver was stamped (JustRite Grand Sentiments) on a plain colored scrap of AS and matted with silver poster board.

Inside:

Inside the remaining piece of the border AS from the front was cut to form borders top and bottom.  The sentiment was stamped using a Crafter's Companion Compendium stamp from the set called Thinking of You.

Card #2:

Lavender card stock from my stash forms the background of this card - embossed with Decor Circles from Teresa Collins.  A scrap of silver poster board forms a border near the bottom of the card - along with a die cut sentiment from the set.  For the focal, I used a die cut frame from the die cut sheet to frame a portion from one of the AS sheets.  The butterfly was a sticker from my stash.

Inside:

Scraps of the embossed card stock from the front, forms borders top and bottom - along with scraps of silver poster board.  The cupcake is a cut out from a LB page.  A stamped sentiment (Crafter's Companion Compendium from the page Thank You) completes the inside.

Card #3:

The main part of this card is another piece of AS - with a frame cut from a piece of plain colored AS from my stash (Spellbinder's Dies from 5x7 Matting Basics).  The die cut sentiment was matted on another scrap of the plain colored AS, which was matted with the silver poster board.  I added a stamped sentiment using a JustRite stamp from their Ever After Antique Labels One set.  A butterfly sticker from my stash completed the look.

Inside:

A die cut rectangle (inside of frame from the front) formed the main part of the inside.  A scrap of the AS forms a border - with a die cut and butterfly sticker from my stash decorating it.  "Innies" of border stickers from my stash form a butterfly trail.  The stamped sentiments are from Crafter's Companion's Compendium - the first from the page called Celebrate, the 2nd from Birthday-Female.

Card #4:

This is a smaller card - a bit larger than an A2.  The card front was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder called Swiss Dots.  A silver strip forms a bit of a border.  The focal was a die cut from the set, the sentiment a cut out from a LB page, and the butterfly was a sticker from my stash.

Inside:

Scraps of the AS & silver poster board forms the bottom border - along with a die cut sentiment.  The stamped sentiment is another from Crafter's Companion Compendium - this time the sheet called Heartfelt.

Card #5:

This card was made to meet several challenges - a sketch challenge, use of octagons, and TTT (embossing, shiny, vellum).  A piece of the AS forms the background for this card (I die cut pieces from it where they'd be hidden behind the added octagons and saved them for the next card).  Octagons were die cut (Stitched Octagons from Creative Dies Designs) from plain white, some of the AS, and the embossed lavender scraps from the previous cards.  The focal, frame, and first sentiment were all from the die cut sheet.  The frame was cut down a bit to fit - and then backed with pink vellum.  The 2nd sentiment was cut from a LB page & then matted with silver poster board from my stash.

Inside:

The border was created with a piece of AS and two cut outs from the LB.  The stamped sentiment was made using another of the Crafter's Companion Compendium from the page called Birthday - Female.

Card #6:

This final card was inspired by the same sketch as the last one - and uses the hexagons cut from the previous card - matted with silver.  The frame was also die cut from silver poster board.  The background was a plain white card stock - embossed with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots and then inked with two colors of distress inks (Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord).  Then I added the die cut focal and frame (from the die cut sheets - frame turned on end).  The sentiment is fussy cut from a LB page - then matted with silver poster board.  The final element is another butterfly sticker from my stash.

Inside:

This embossed inside page came with one of my Crafter's Companion Compendium pages - and I stamped a message using one of those sheets - the one called Birthday-Female.
