OSW3 #5 - Penny Slider

The 5th in this One Sheet Wonder set is a penny slider card - really a pretty easy card structure to make.  Once again, I'm using elements from the Honeysuckle Artful Card Kit.

CARD FRONT:
  • Card Topper - Cut a piece of card stock just smaller than the front of the card.  It should be pretty sturdy card stock, so you might want to glue 2 pieces together.  On the back of this piece, measure 3/4" and 1 1/4" from the top and 3/4" from each side, forming a long, thin rectangle.  Using a 1/2" circle punch or die, cut either end of the rectangle.  Then, using a craft knife, cut along the lines that connect these circles.  Now you have a long ovalish rectangular cut-out.  Set the card stock it in place on the card front, and lightly draw around the inside of this cut-out with a pencil.  Stamp a sentiment in this drawn oval.
  • Border & Sentiment - Cut a rectangular piece of red embossed glimmer paper that is 5" x 1 3/4" and glue it to the card topper.  Then attach the 3 squares of patterned papers as shown (from OSW).  The sentiment is a cut out from the kit that I backed with a piece of black paper and then glued to the border.
  • Slider - You'll need two small coins (I used pennies) and foam tape.  Cut a circular piece of foam tape - 1/4" to 3/8" in diameter and place it in the center of one of the small coins.  Then cut several pieces of narrow foam tape and place them on the back of the topper about 1/4" above & below the slot and then a third across the bottom.  Then fill in with foam tape as needed to hold the topper well. If you wish, you could use slightly thicker foam tape to attach the topper than you used for the coin so it can slide easier.  After all is ready, hold the coin with attached foam tape under the slot and add the other coin above the slot so the foam tape and slot edges of card topper are both sandwiched between them. Cover the top coin with an embellishment of some kind (here I used a large bee from the kit).  Now attach the topper to the card front with the prepared foam tape and make sure the slider slides.

INSIDE:
  • Border - Mat the longer piece of patterned paper on a slightly larger piece of embossed red glimmer paper and then on a piece of black paper that is 5 1/4" x 1 7/8".
  • Finishing - Add the small bee & create a "flight path" using small pieces of Dazzles or other black stickers.
