Christmas in February Part 4

The next die cut sheet from "Cute Christmas Luxury Card Collection" has cute reindeer & penguins, and this time I got 5 cards from the single die cut sheet and coordinating card stock.  In this first card, the animals are taking a selfie.  I made this one into an interlocking gate fold card.  Simply attached the frame (with greeting attached) to one side of the gate fold - but not the other.  Then attached the picture to the other side - but not the first.  A quick and easy fun card.  I love this sparkly paper that I used.  It's DCWV paper called "Glitzy".  In the picture below, you can see what the card looks like when it's completely closed.

This next card was made using one of the coordinating sheets folded into a Z-fold card.  You can see that I added some die cuts on the inside.  The one on the front was from the 2016 Christmas Sentiments and I matted it with a large glittery snowflake Dazzle sticker.  I also added some Stickles to the card itself to make the snow sparkle on the trees  and the ground near them.

Card number 3 started with a pink card base.  I used a silvery paper for the mats & added die cuts.  The frame is popped up with foam squares for added dimension.

For the inside, I simply cut a piece of coordinating card stock with a pretty border.

The fourth card in this set was another interlocking gate fold card - this time turned horizontally.

I re-appropriated a white glitter card base for the flaps, since I didn't have plain white glittered card stock in my stash and the card base with white glitter was smaller than I wanted for this card.  The picture (with attached sentiment from 2016 Christmas Greetings) is attached only to the upper flap; the frame only to the lower.

I had thought I was done until I found the die cut on the front of this card:

It was a bit small for a card focal, so I double matted it using red and silver metallic card stocks - both cut with Spellbinders Decorative Labels Twenty-Two.  I threaded a strip of red metallic card stock through the silver mat, and added a small die cut from the 2016 Christmas Sentiments.

For the inside, I simply attached a narrow strip of red metallic card stock - and added another die cut from the 2016 Christmas Sentiments set.

That makes 5 cards from this die cut sheet and I still have a really nice frame that I'll use somewhere else, along with some extra coordinating card stock.

Christmas in February Part 3

Today I am once again showcasing cards made with the Hunkydory luxury card kit called "Cute Christmas".  I have FIVE cards, made using the one die cut sheet and two card stock pieces that were designed to match.

This first card, actually started from a piece left over from the manger scene die cut sheet that I showed a couple of days ago.  The large purple fame was around that circular die cut - but I didn't want to use it for that card.  I thought it went very nicely with these angel die cuts, so I used it here to make an easel card.  It's actually bigger than the A2 purple glitter card stock base I used for the card, but I liked it anyway.  After scoring and folding the center of the front of the card base, I attached these die cuts to just the lower half so it could fold up as you see in the picture above.  The little "Noel" was also a piece from this angel die cut page.  I liked the mix of gold and silver that I ended up with on this card.  Here's the inside of the card:

The little angel tag is from the set.  I added a small bit of purple ribbon.  The border is actually from a polar bear die cut sheet from this same kit (you'll see the polar bears later).  To help tie the gold/silver together, I edged it with some thin gold Dazzles borders stickers from HOTP.  The sentiment on the border started with a silver foiled piece from the Hunkydory "2016 Christmas Sentiments" set - matted with a scrap from the die cut sheet, then a purple card stock, and then finally that glorious Glitzy gold.

The 2nd card from this die cut sheet was made using another glitter card base - this time in green.  The "holly ribbon" was actually a border from one of the larger angel die cuts.  I cut it in half and glued each half as you see here.  Then attached the focal with foam tape.

Here's the inside:

I found a piece of HOTP paper in my stash that I thought went pretty well with these die cuts.  After cutting it a bit smaller than the inside of the card, I cut out the center using the die cut frame as a guide (I traced it on the back & then cut it carefully along the traced lines).  I saved the inside piece for the next card, and glued the remaining piece here.  The die cut frame was actually one of two that were on this sheet of die cuts.  I added it with foam tape, then added a couple more die cuts.  The one in the lower left is another from the "2016 Christmas Sentiments".

For card number 3, I used the leftover piece mentioned above.  I added it to the front of this card as a mat for one of the smaller die cuts.  I added the remaining silver frame with foam tape, then cut the last piece of this paper scrap into a border that fit on either side.  I added some silver border Dazzles (HOTP) to dress up the borders and another sentiment from the "2016 Christmas Sentiments" pack.

For the inside, I added pieces from the coordinating card stock (the rest was saved for the last card) & more of the silver border Dazzles.

For the 4th card, I used my remaining piece of coordinating card stock.  I scored & folded it as a modified tri-fold.  It looks sort of a combination of a tri-fold and & cut-away card.

When it is folded closed, the angel die covers all but a touch of holly from the inside tag.  There are 3 die cuts here from the set.  The first is the focal.  The second is the inside tag (with red ribbon added).  The third is a tiny circular piece that says "JOY" that I added to the border on the front of the card.

The 5th card made from this die cut sheet & coordinating card stock is this one:

For this one I took the die cut frame & cut the picture from the coordinating card stock to fit.  The greeting is attached to a tag (cut using Spellbinders Fancy Tags - with a piece cut out of the center so the coordinating tag fits better).  I used some dotted paper from my stash to cover the card front - and the middle of the inside of the card.

Here's the inside:

I added pieces from the coordinating card stock on either side, finished it with silver outline border stickers, then added the greeting - matted on a couple of coordinating mats cut with Spellbinder's Decorative Labels 32 dies.

So there you have it.  Not two cards - but FIVE using the die cut sheet & coordinating card stock.

Christmas in February Part 2

Continuing with "Cute Christmas Luxury Card Collection", here are the cards made using the rest of the Hunkydory die cut sheet from yesterday - and the 2nd piece of card stock that was designed to go with it.  As with the ones I showed yesterday, I find I like the 2nd one I made best - so that is what you see above.  But I'll talk about them in order of creation.

Here's the first one.  This time I separated the outer frames from the central die cut.  I raised the inner one with foam tape and attached it to my card (a card blank made from white glittered card stock - beautiful) as you can see here:

I also added a small die-cut sentiment from the kit - again on foam tape.  Then I moved to the inside:

As you can see, I added a border piece and another die cut (both included in the kit).  Quick, easy, & nice.

Now here's my 2nd card - which I LOVE:

I had used most of the die cuts on the 1st card, but still had the card stock piece.  I cut off the part that had the picture, then scored and folded the rest to make a cut-away card as you can see in the picture.  I then glued the part I had cut off to the front of the card.

Next, I cut a strip from the yellow pattern on the original die cut sheet (the scrap around the die cuts!).  I matted this with first a purple card stock, and then a sparkly gold piece.  I LOVE the touch that sparkly gold adds (it's from the DCWV Glitzy Mat Stack).  This strip formed the basic border that you can see on the right side of the cut-away card. (You can see it better in the picture of the inside of the card - below.)  Since I had already used most of the die cuts from the original sheet, I then turned, once again to the Hunkydory "2016 Christmas Sentiments" pack for additional die cuts.  I chose one with gold foiling that said "O Come Let Us Adore Him" and matted it in purple (cut with the smallest Spellbinder's Labels One die).

Then, on the front of the card I added a large layered piece that overhung the "cut-away".  It started with a star die cut with gold foiling that said "O Holy Night" (from the sentiments set).  I wanted to make a bigger statement than this small die cut made, so I made multiple mats for it - first a thin purple mat (cut with a die from HOTP 9 Tiny Christmas Things & Shadows), then a yellow one cut from the scraps from the original die cut sheet (same stuff I used for the border), then another purple layer (die from Spellbinder's Moroccan Motifs), and finally a large lacy gold glittery mat - cut & embossed from the Glitzy gold using a die from Spellbinder's Moroccan Motifs.  I added another purple-matted star to the top of the stable & the front was done.

Then to finish the inside:

As you can probably see, I matted another die cut from the sentiments set using the same purple and glitzy gold.  This time I used dies from Spellbinder's Decorative Labels Twenty-Seven.

Christmas in . . . February!

Last year, I only got a few of the Christmas cards made & sent that I had intended to send.  So this year, I decided not only would I start early, but I'd make it much easier on myself as well!

The cards I'll show you over the next several days, started with a set from Hunkydory called "Cute Christmas Luxury Card Collection".  It says it makes at least 20 cards.  Since the kit comes with 20 sheets of cardstock and 10 sheets of die cuts, I guess they figure each card uses a sheet of cardstock and 1/2 sheet of die cuts.  However, if I continue the way I've been going, I'll get at least twice as many cards out of this kit.  Here are two cards I made using 1 card stock sheet & approximately 1/2 a sheet of die cuts.

This first one was made as a Z-fold card - except SIDEWAYS - so you can see the vertical imagery.  The front has a couple of die cuts on it - the costumed people & the sentiment.  It uses 1/2 of the card stock sheet as the card base, and has another die cut at the bottom (which is on the inside until you open the card).

The second is the one you saw at the top of this post - here it is again:

For this one, I took the die-cut frame that had been around the focal I used on the previous card.  I centered it over a picture of the same costumed people that were on the remaining portion of the piece of cardstock and cut around them to form this framed piece.  I glued it to the front of a plain card blank & added a tag (from Hunkydory's "Christmas 2016 Sentiments") to which I'd added a piece of gold ribbon.  You can't really tell in the picture, but the inside & outside edges of the frame have gold foiling which is picked up with the sentiment.

Here's the inside.

The center of the inside again has a sentiment piece from the "Christmas 2016 Sentiments", but it wasn't as big as I wanted.  So, I took a piece of holographic gold foil tissue paper, backed it with a piece of double-stick adhesive sheet (from Elizabeth Craft - made it easier both to cut the thin paper, and to adhere it to the card), cut it with one of my cutting dies (Spellbinders Decorative Labels Twenty-Seven) and used it for a mat.  It is really pretty in person.  The bottom border was created by cutting a strip of green/red/white striped paper from my stash, & coloring the white with yellow so it better matched the die cuts.  The other two die cuts here were from the original kit.

So, there you have the first two of my Christmas cards from this set.  I love Hunkydory kits.  They really give you a lot of "bang for the buck".
