Use It Cards

Today I have a couple of cards made with craft supplies I received as gifts.  When someone gives me a gift of materials, I like to make them a thank you card using those materials.  That's what today's cards are.

Both cards are made the same way.  They are A2 in size, and the necessary measurements are listed in a previous post - here.   ( I also calculated sizes for a 5 x 7 version - see 2nd card in this post.)

I chose this style of card because I thought it broke up the patterns pretty well and I was choosing patterns that were not my favorites but would pair well with the flowers that came with them.  As you'll see, I also chose to mat each piece with colored card stock.  I think that was a big factor in making these cards more pretty than they might otherwise have been.

Card #1:

I thought it might help to show a piece of the original paper (see above).  It's not my favorite at all, but paired with white card base, bright yellow card stock mats, and a couple of yellow flowers, I think it turned out quite well.

As you can see, I die cut a greeting, glued it to white card stock, then fussy cut the white as a bit of a mat so that it stands out well against the background.

Not knowing who I'd send these to, I decided to just create a space for a message - that can be either hand-written, or stamped as the need arises.

Card #2:

While this paper is a bit prettier than the previous, I still found it quite challenging to think of how I might use it - until deciding on this card design.  Clearly, not a lot of the pattern really shows - you get more of a hint of colors than a particular design - which works quite well for this type of card.

Again, I die cut a sentiment - but this time, I just glued it to a small white card stock rectangle.  The pink card stock with the white really softens the look of the dark paper.

Once again, I added a white panel on the inside on which to write or stamp a message.
