Craft Mats Tips

Craft Mats.  I LOVE them, but there are 2 things I find a bit challenging:
  1. The price
  2. Over time the corners curl & start bugging me.
So here are a my tips for dealing with those 2 issues:
  1. So far as price goes - I frankly prefer the Tim Holtz craft mat & am willing to pay the extra to get it.  However, I also find that some oven liners work well & cost a bit less.  For a really inexpensive craft mat, check out this video from Pepper & Pine - just brown paper bags & clear contact paper!
  2. To deal with curling corners - tape them to your table!  I was watching a craft video the other day - can't tell you which one now - and I noticed that the person demonstrating a card making technique had her craft mat taped down with washi tape!  Why didn't I think to tape mine down?  I want it to be removable if needed, and didn't want to sacrifice my limited washi tape to the cause, so I used painter's tape (and then saw the above video where they did the same!).
This is not rocket science here, but I shouldn't have to deal with curling corners anymore!  I'll see how it works for the long haul.
