Fruitful Day

Here's a "Banded Fold-back Gate Fold" card, made mostly with papers from an old Paper Pizazz booklet called "Janie Dawson's Sweet Companions".  I added a few cherry stickers from my stash, and some washi tape.  

Card Base: The card base was made from a piece of white card stock cut to 5 1/2" x 12".  If piece is placed horizontally, the score lines were vertical ones at 2", 4", 8", and 10".  A piece that was 1 1/4" x 8" forms the band that goes across the front, with another that is 1 1/4" x 5" behind that (scored at 1/2" and 4 1/2").  Given that the piece I put on the middle tier was so large (a hair under 4" x 5 1/2"), I cut small pieces of card stock, scored them in half, and used them as anchors at the top of the middle archway/frame.

Background: I started by gluing white cherry paper to the inside back of the card.  

Middle Layer: I fussy cut around the framed girl in the original picture, then cut the OUTSIDE of this to form the frame that is the middle layer.  I glued this to card stock for additional stability before attaching it in place (adding stability as mentioned when discussing the card base).

Front Band & Focal:  I covered the front band with the black cherry paper (unfortunately I had to piece it, but hopefully it's not TOO visible).  Then I glued it to the card fronts as shown. I decided to cut the frame off the framed girl (from the last step), but glued her to a piece of turquoise card stock to give her a good frame & some sturdiness.  This piece of card stock extended below so there was plenty to glue to the back of the front band.  I inked the edges of the card stock before gluing it in place.

Finishing: I cut strips of the checkered borders from the paper and glued the black ones to the outside of the card fronts - and the green ones to just inside the "sides".  I printed my sentiment on plain white paper and die cut it to fit inside a die cut piece of the black paper (once again adhered to card stock for added stability). The die set used was Spellbinder's Petite Scalloped Ovals. After adhering this in place, I added striped border strips using washi tape and a few cherry stickers from my stash to complete the card.
