Joy & Listening

Today's Bible journaling page is in the 1st chapter of James.  It illustrates two of the three highlighted passages (the blue highlighted one is illustrated on the opposite page & will be shown tomorrow).

First up is the yellow highlighted passage about counting it all joy when facing various trials (James 1:2-4).  My illustration is a stamp from "Janie's Girls" (HOTP) showing a girl out in the rain looking up at it with a big smile on her face.  That illustrates for me how we are to face challenges - whether rainy days or larger problems.  I stamped her with black VersaFine but it was a new stamp pad & way too juicy - so I heat embossed with clear powder before coloring her with my Inktense pencils.  Then I used alphabet stamps to create the word "ALL" which I heat embossed in gold & then outlined with a Pitt pen.  I looked through my stash for all the different stamps that said "Joy" and heat embossed them in various colors.  The rest of the writing was done with Pitt pens.

The 2nd passage pictured on this page comes from verses 19 & 20 - reminding us we are to be quick to hear, slow to speak & slow to anger.  The ear is adapted from a picture I found on the internet - traced & colored with my Inktense pencils.  The girl is another of "Janie's Girls" stamps - done the same way as the previous.  Once again, the rest of the lettering is done with Pitt pens - though the word "Quick" was traced from something I printed on my computer.
