Variations on a theme - #1

I finally was able to carve out a little time for paper crafting again.  I had several thank you cards I needed to send out, so the cards I'll show over the next four days will be variations on that theme.  Up first is this white with turquoise. 

It started with a David Tutera card base that already had the cut border at the bottom of the front.  I decided to emboss a frame on the card front using an embossing folder I have (the folder does not state who made it, but I believe I got it from PaperWishes.com - if so, they no longer carry it!).  Anyway, the card tore at the fold as I was taking it out of the embossing folder.  Rather than trying to figure out how to repair it, I just cut it off at the fold and glued it on top of a second one.  This made the card front a bit thick, but it looked great.

The mat for the focal was cut from some turquoise paper using the smallest die in the 5X7 Elegant Labels Four Card Creator set from Spellbinders.  As you can see, I ran small pieces of ribbon through the slots created by this die and tied them off on either side.

The focal itself was cut with a die from one of Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Motifs & Accents sets.  I used a small piece of foam to ink it using the die as a stencil, then stamped my sentiment with a stamp from JustRite's "For All You Do" stamp set.  I popped it up on foam tape and my card was done.
