Mats & Frames Part 4

You can get the look of different shaped photos by using frames like these.  The frame is placed over top of the photo. These first ones are purchased frames that came in a kit. 

This frame is obviously much larger.  It was a purchased frame, but can easily be made by taking a rectangle and cutting an oval out of the center.  To get a clean oval shape, you can use a die or template.

Thinking of using dies, opens up the idea of more elaborately shaped frames.  The block of frames on this page started with a rectangle of the striped paper.  It was sent through my Big Shot 4 times to cut the four openings.  To get them aligned correctly, I used a ruler to draw lines on the back, drawn through where I wanted the centers of the pictures.  Since the die I used (Spellbinders Nestabilities - Labels Four) has points on the center of each side, it was easy to line the die up with the lines I had drawn.  To get the cream colored frames, I cut holes in a sheet of cream colored paper - just like I did with the striped paper, except I used a smaller die.  To help the focal photo stand out, I cut a frame out of brown using a combination of two dies - one for the outer edge, and one for the inner edge.  The one I used for the inner edge was the same size as that used for the striped paper, the one for the outer edge was a bit larger than the one for the inner edge.
