Luxembourg City

Here I have several pages about Luxembourg City.

Pages 1 & 2: Above is the dual page layout for the first two pages.  Below is a closer look at each page.

Page 1:

This page is very simple - a white background paper serves as mat for the black.  The title was created and printed (along with the photos) using Microsoft Word.

Page #2:

This page was created in a similar fashion - this time with a journaling block instead of title.

Page #3:

Title, journaling, and pictures were printed the same way as for the previous pages.  The background was a plain light green piece of card stock from my stash.  I took a damp sea sponge and Stampin' Up ink called Gray Granite.

Pages 4A & 4B:

These pages were designed to fit into a gate fold page protector.  Since each page was 6" wide, I decided to take advantage of the narrow width to run each through a paper crimper.  The pictures, titles & journaling were created the same way as all the rest.  To help fill in the left hand page, I zoomed in on the first picture to create the fussy cut pieces I added of the statues by the door.

Pages 4 C, D, E (inside of the gate fold):

Above you can see what it looks like when the gate fold flaps are opened.  Below you can see a closer look at each:

Page 4C:

This page (and it's companion 4E) started with a beige printed background.  The green was inked with the sea sponge - same as page #3 above.  I cut strips of brown to add borders on each side of the green.  I also used some of the sponged green to ink the mat for the center photo.  I don't know why I didn't double mat it with the brown as well, but it's too late now.  The title and photos were printed as I did the rest.

Page  4D:

As you can see, I used the same beige print for the background with a larger piece of green (sponged as before) forming a strip across the center - bordered with the same brown strips as on 4C & 4E.  Before I glued that down, I cut out a piece of the background to use to mat the center photos and journaling.

Page 4E:

This page was made basically the same way that page 4C was.

 Page 5 & 6A & 6B:

Once again I'm using a gate-fold sheet protector for the right hand page - so the above picture actually shows one 12 x 12 and two 6 x 12 pages.  Below you'll see a closer look at these.

Page 5:

The center of this page has a horizontal strip of "handmade" paper that I bought years ago at Costco.  It forms the backdrop for the printed title (color of letters comes from one of the pictures on the next page!).  The focal photo has a gold frame with a mat of white around it.  All the other pictures were cut with narrow white border.  The journaling block was also printed.  The stained glass embellishments were cut from a blow up of the large stained glass window shown on the next page.

Page 6A & 6B:

These are the two narrow sheets that go in the gate fold sheet protector.  You can see more of that "hand-made" paper on the right panel.  For the left panel, I used paper ribbon from my stash.  Again, the stained glass embellishments are from a blow up of the large stained glass picture.

Page 6C, 6D, 6E:

This is what you see when you open the gate fold that I called Page 6A & 6B.

Page 6D:

These pictures seem to have too much light on them so we can't see all the features as well as I wish we could. The paper is a lovely card stock with almost a plastic finish - marbled look with copper streaks - very pretty in real life.  As you can see, most photos and the journaling block were all printed with borders so I didn't feel the need to mat them. The focal photo, however, has a frame that was die cut from a metallic copper paper using a Spellbinder's die from the set called Renaissance Jeweled Frame.  The title block - like the ones on the pages on each side - was computer printed and then the edges were inked with a copper colored Sharpie.

Pages 6C & 6E:

In this picture, I've brought the two outside 6" wide pages together so you see them here side by side - which is NOT what you would see in the book itself - they would be separated by the page I called 6D!  Both of these were pretty much made the same way as 6D.

With Sympathy Digi

Here's a quick sympathy card.  The background was a digital download which I printed just smaller than 5" x 7".  I added 3 stamped images (duck, heron, man and dog) using Stampscapes stamps and black ink.  A simple stamped sentiment (using my Mom's stamps and dies) added with foam tape completes the card front.

Inside:

I kept the inside simple - a stamped sentiment using Crafter's Companion Compendium stamp sheet called With Sympathy.

HD All Things Bright & Beautiful - A Beautiful Day

Today I have cards from an old (early 2014) Hunkydory card kit called All Things Bright & Beautiful - set called A Beautiful Day.  Here's a picture of the set I started with:

As you can see, a couple of pieces were missing from the die cut sheet, but I still was able to create 8 cards from this set by adding various pieces/papers from my stash.  Here's a picture of the 8 cards:

Next up is a closer look at each:

Card #1:

First up are a couple of birthday cards.  This first is an A2 sized card.  I simply cut a panel from one of the printed papers in the set to serve as both background and focal.  I created a border using a piece of grosgrain ribbon, then added a sentiment die cut from the set to complete the card front.

Inside:

Inside started with a piece remaining from the printed background/focal on the card front.  I cut it in two to form borders top & bottom, then added a small die cut embellishment.  Finally, I stamped a message using a stamp from CCC's (Crafter's Companion Compendium) page of stamps called Birthday-Male.

Card #2:

Next up is another panel cut from the same printed paper from the set - this one cut for a slim-line card.  Since the paper is a bit short, I cut it apart near the top and inserted a die cut greeting from the set.  I added Dazzles sticker borders (HOTP) top and bottom of the sentiment piece, and finished by adding a couple of dimensional butterflies that I got at the Dollar Store.

Inside:

Inside was simply a panel cut from one of the printed sheets - stamped with another sentiment from CCC's Birthday-Male sheet.

Card #3:

Next up are 3 "Thinking of You" cards.  This first is a horizontal slimline card.  The border along the bottom is leftover from the poppy printed sheet. After gluing the paper in place, I embossed the card front using a Cuttlebug A2 embossing folder called Swiss Dots.  The die cut pieces are actually from a HD Bigger Book of Toppers called Florals.

Inside:

Another leftover piece of the printed paper forms a border at the bottom of this card.  The stamped sentiment is from CCC's Thinking of You sheet.

Card #4:

This slimline card uses the last cut panel from the daffodil print paper.  Once again, it was a bit short, so I split the panel and inserted something to extend it.  This time I added a strip of green vellum and then pieces of border Dazzles.  Finally, I added a die cut piece from the set which serves both as sentiment and focal.

Inside:

Again the inside is simply a piece of the yellow printed paper from the set - stamped with another sentiment from CCC's Thinking of You.

Card #5:

This card started with a background piece of printed digi-paper.  I thought it went well with these die cut pieces - all from the set.  I DID make a change in the focal/frame.  Originally there was a die cut gold frame inside of the frame that you see - and also a green & gold frame that was a part of the focal piece.  I removed both, and backed the frame with a peachy colored vellum.  I also added a few tiny stickers in the center of each side of the frame.  I repeated adding these stickers to the border piece that anchors the sentiment die cut.

Inside:

The remaining part of the border & a small embellishment die cut form the upper border on the inside.  The sentiment is again from CCC's Thinking of You stamp sheet.

Card #6:

Next up is a thank you card.  The background is cut from the yellow print from the set.  The frame and focal are also from the set.  The sentiment is stamped & die cut using stamps and dies that my Mother has.

Inside:

The border is created using two die cuts from the set.  The sentiment is from CCC's Thank You sheet of stamps.

Card #7:

The remaining two cards are sympathy cards.  The border/background is a panel cut from one of the printed sheets in the set.  To this, I simply added the focal and sentiment die cut pieces with foam tape.  The sentiment piece is again from the Florals Bigger Book of Toppers, but the focal is from the set.

Inside:

As you can probably see, I created borders using leftover pieces from the printed sheet.  Then I added a stamped sentiment using a stamp from CCC's With Sympathy.

Card #8:

Two of the three papers that came with the set were double-sided.  This is the back side of the poppy sheet.  Since I couldn't choose between them, I cut two panels and used one side for the previous card, and the other side for this one.  I wasn't sure what to do because the background paper made such a pretty statement.  I decided a simple greeting (stamped & die cut with my Mom's set) added with foam tape was all I wanted to add.

Inside:

I also left the inside pretty simple - simply a stamped message using a stamp from CCC's With Sympathy.

2023 August Swap Card

Today's card is for a swap - the theme is "anything goes with dry embossing".

Most of the patterned pieces & background are from a freebie digital download.  As you can see, I did a lot of fussy cutting of flowers for the focal & embellishments.  I cut a piece of white card stock into an oval using Spellbinders Petite Classic Ovals Large die set - and did the same with a smaller die for the sentiment.  Then I ran both through a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Swiss Dots.  I added ribbon from my stash and some pink sticky-backed vinyl mats (which was the closest color I had in my stash).

Inside:

Here we have a simple scrap forming the border - with a circle of white card stock and fussy cut leftovers from the card front.  The final touch is a stamped greeting - from Crafter's Companion Compendium - sheet called Celebrate.
